European Voluntary Service
The Swedish Guide and Scout Council and the World Scout Jamboree are now hosting three volunteers from the European Voluntary Service, as part of the Youth in Action program.
The Youth in Action program helps to provide funding for projects that allow young people in Europe and surrounding partner countries to travel to another European country and experience the culture through informal learning.
Anezka Novotna from the Czech Republic and Daniel Miles from the United Kingdom arrived at the office in December 2009. The third volunteer, Jozef Strezenec from Slovakia, joined us in mid January.
They shall be at the office until the end of April, assisting the Jamboree Planning Team. During their time with us we are hoping to get them involved with several aspect of the Jamboree planning and hope they will provide valuable input during the planning stage.
We asked them how they felt about coming to Stockholm to work and they said:
Anezka - I am so excited about being here and looking forward to my stay in Stockholm. I am looking forward to learning how scouting works in Sweden. It is so amazing to be able to take part in the preparations for the Jamboree and I hope that I will be a valuable member of the team.
Daniel - This is a really cool opportunity and it's great to be here. I can't wait to discover more about Sweden and have a chance to explore Stockholm and the surrounding area. I really hope that I can provide some valuable input to the project.
Soon you can follow their blog to see what it is like working the the Jamboree Office!
